Useful Tips I Personally Use To Gain Followers - By Joe Feldman
Since the inception of twitter people have constantly been trying to figure out ways to gain exposure for their account whether specifically related to themselves or their business. The more followers you have the more easily you can communicate what you are trying to convey on a larger scale. The one thing people have to keep in mind though is that, yes while volume is great, quality is key. It is much better to have followers who are specifically interested in your posts rather than bots. The quality twitter follower is going to care, possibly respond, and hopefully retweet your post to their followers which in turn will gain you more followers of your own.
Some basic rules of thumb in regards to your postings will make more sense if you understand the way twitter posting works. When you post something twitter scans it for common words and groupings. Once it identifies these groupings it will be visible to anyone who searches those terms even if they are not following you. Knowing this, it helps to write all relevant keywords into your posts in regards to the type of follower you are looking to attract. For example if you were to write a post about a basketball game you just went to see, you would rather have post #2 instead of post #1 below:
Post 1: I just went to see a great basketball game with my favorite player.
Post 2: Just saw the Los Angeles Lakers basketball game and Kobe Bryant was amazing.
The increased description would allow anyone searching on twitter for the words Los Angeles, Lakers, basketball, or Kobe Bryant to pull up your post. Without the specification of keywords your post would not show up to anyone outside of your current followers.
Another useful tip is to tweet often. It might sound obvious, but many people don?t tweet enough. There is no specific amount of tweets per day that?s guaranteed to get you more followers, but the more you tweet the more exposure you get to other members guaranteed. Be careful not to tweet too often though or you run the risk of burning out your current followers. If your posts are always informative and relative you should have no problem attracting new followers and maintaining the ones you have.
In order to get people engaged in your posts you should ask specific questions and you would be surprised how many people will respond if it?s a popular topic. Allow people time to respond and then respond back to them. Once you have a dialogue going with someone on a topic they are interested in, they will most likely want to tune in and follow you to see what else you have to say. Lastly try and remember to keep your tweets consistent. If someone follows you to hear what you have to say about cars, they don?t necessarily always want to hear about what you had for dinner, favorite video game, and movie you just saw. Sticking to one genre helps to validate your opinion on things and lets people know what further tweets are most likely going to entail. I hope this helps and happy tweeting.
