Connecting and Reconnecting through Facebook
Soon 6 degrees of separation will drop to 5 degrees or lower with social networking sites like Facebook making the world smaller through the use of adding friends to profiles and game apps on the site. Some Facebook games even encourage seeking out 'strangers' who are interested in the same apps and play the same games.
When signing up for Facebook you can import contacts from different email accounts and search for friends by name or email. This is great for reconnecting with people you may have lost contact with over time. Businesses, school, sports and entertainment stars and websites may have Fan Pages to join and allow fans to comment and follow through facebook. Facebook games also encourage members to join others 'teams' to play games together.
It really does make the world a smaller place when wall postings include information from people all over the world. Friends you have made from using the same apps and games become closer when you are able to congratulate them on a birth or wedding, comment on a funny picture, or offer sympathy for a death or illness.
Classmates you haven't seen or talked to in 20 years or more may add you as a friend and that can allow you to catch up with each other's lives and pick up an old friendship. Distant family may connect with you and allow you to learn more about your heritage and family you didn't even know you had.
People you've never met may connect with you in order to play games on Facebook or share other common interests. It's amazing to share a part of your life with people you would have never met otherwise. It helps, in some ways, to know that no one in the world is happy with their weather. Teenagers do drive parents crazy in every country. It is interesting to learn how others celebrate birthdays and other holidays. While similarities give a good feeling, differences spark an interest in learning more about different cultures.
Social networking sites do a great service to the internet community by bringing everyone closer and giving people a chance to learn more about real people from all over the world, not just what's said on the news.Facebook Games to Play with Friends
This is by no means a complete list of Facebook games but just an few examples of games that encourage people to connect with friends and strangers to increase enjoyment of the game.
Farmville and Farmtown are both games that require planting and harvesting crops, raising and caring for animals and building things for your farm. Neighbors are able to assist with farming dutiesand send gifts on both games but there are some difference in the graphics and functions in the games.
Mafia Wars and Vampire Wars are both games that encourage joining members together to have a 'team' of 500 users working with you to complete tasks, send gifts to and communicate with other members.
Cafe World, MyTown, Pet Society, Fishville, Zoo World and many others offer rewards for adding a certain number of friends/neighbors to play the game with you.
These apps or games are a fun way to enjoy your time on Facebook while making making new friends, maintaining current friendships and reconnecting with people from the past.
