Are Facebook Games Worth Playing

Facebook has become one of the top sites for social networking. It lets you keep up with friends that you may not have seen in years and family that lives miles and miles away. Facebook gives a person an online presence, which can make or break you. Facebook also provides users with many different apps to use, including games. Games like Farmville, Mafia Wars, and Cityville have become widely popular. But, are these games really worth the time and money to play?Friends

Many games on Facebook require you to have a lot of friends to progress through the game. This can be a bit frustrating for some people who either do not have a big friends list or do not have many friends who play the games. Farmville, for instance, requires a certain amount of friends to be able to expand your farm. In Cityville, community buildings can only be built by "hiring" friends. Also, some friends you do have, who don't play any of the games, often get upset when you post game requests on their wall.Money

There is another way to progress through Facebook games if you don't have many friends. Many games offer you shortcuts for those without friends, by selling special game money. A person with hardly any friends could find themselves shelling out a lot hard earned cash for virtual money, just to progress through a single game. It is understandable that the people who make the games need to be able to make money, and selling exclusive items for real cash can bring in revenue. However selling game progression to people with few friends is almost like a punishment.Game Progreession

Ever since video and computer games were first created, game progression has been fairly swift. Even in seemingly endless online games, such as World of Warcraft, gaining levels and earning achievements and other rewards do not take days. Also, you don't have to worry about all your hard work going to waste because you didn't log in for a few days. Those who play Farmville have to keep up with how much time a crop takes to grow. Otherwise, those crops will wither and they will lose money. Raising animals and growing trees can help, as they don't wither or die. However, it can be difficult to complete quests that require you to grow and harvest a certain crop.

Also, those with very few friends can sometimes hit a brick wall. You get to a certain point in the game, and all the sudden you can't progress because you don't have enough friends. Then, people leave the game just for that reason. Its not all bad...is it?

For people who have a lot of friends that like playing Facebook games or if they have extra cash, these games can be fun and addicting. For people with busy schedules it can be a good means of relaxation for just a few minutes, though if you don't check back regularly your crops may die. There are plenty of Facebook games that you can play that might be worth playing. It all depends on what you are looking for. For people who like slow, casual, drawn out games, Farmville and Cityville can be good. For those who like to be challenged, some of the games that are based off of game shows can be pretty fun. Either way, Facebook games have become pretty popular and are probably here to stay.
