What is the first word that comes to your mind when you hear word “crime”? What leads one to commit crime? Different people may have different views and ideas on crime and criminals. Some even say that “Crime” and “Society” are two parts of a coin and a crimeless society is only present in hypothetical world. Crime is normally defined as deviant behavior of the human or the violent nature of the human being, which is generally intended to harm others. In every country or state, the governing bodies formulate some code of conduct for its citizen so as to keep the prevalence of peace and harmony in the society, also known as law, and the act which defies the law and harm the property and individuals is generally known as crime and the person or a group of persons engaged in such activities are known as criminals. The crime rate in every corner of the globe is in increasing pace and the news of murder, assaults, rape, thievery and other acts of violence have become regular news in any form of media, whether it is the printed media or electronic media.

It should be noted that no one is born criminal, but the society in which they reside and the people who they come in contact changes a person from a normal civilian to a hardcore criminal. The criminal mentality is also partly due to the low self-esteem and self-control. Above all, the recent researches have also proved that the criminality traits are also transferred through genes. The offspring who have the genes of a criminal parent, one or both, are more likely prone to turn to a criminality than a offspring whose parents are not criminal. The most influencing thing that turn a normal civilian to criminal activity are today’s entertainment media. The programs that are telecasted in televisions and the games they play are the most serious cause of influencing a child’s growing brain than anything else. While playing games or watching programs television, they create such an emotional illusion and make an impression that by doing such idiotic and illegal things, you can gain name, fame, and thrill in the life. And so mimicking those things, which a child mostly does which interests them, unknowingly a child turn to commit crimes. That’s why, nowadays television shows and programs are classified as viewable by the children or not and every parent should be well educated about this.

Another major cause that people to commit the crime is because of the poverty and the high living standards nowadays. Poverty is one of the major causes, which turns a man or woman in to the criminal world. And poverty combined with the unemployment issues is one of the greatest threats in today’s world where criminal activities are rising not only by the illiterates or who are raised in a criminal background, but also the people who are well educated and does not share a criminal background. The cases of forgery, hacking, money laundering, or other hi-tech criminal activities are all as a result of unemployment issues where a person can’t get a job even they are educated and well-experience and earn money. So in order to quench their daily needs, they often are guided into the world of crime.

So let’s build a place where peace prevails and everyone can live their life safely and happily. It should be well understood that neutralization of criminals is not the ultimate solution to this problem, but neutralization of the root cause of this problem should be given emphasis.
